endocrine disruptors

🙋 Endocrine disruptors are substances (or combinations of substances) that interfere with the functioning of our endocrine system (which produces our hormones) and adversely affect our health .
The damage caused by endocrine disruptors can be passed on to our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and so on.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 But we are particularly vulnerable to their effects during periods of hormonal change. These are the vulnerable periods of exposure, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life (from the first days of pregnancy to the age of three), but more generally throughout childhood and adolescence.

Recognising
endocrine disruptors

Endocrine-disrupting substances are found in many everyday objects : ready meals, household products, kitchen utensils, various plastics and even some cosmetics and skincare.

📣 At SVR, we care about the safety and tolerance of our products (which already meet specifications that are stricter than current regulations) and are taking action:

✅ To develop clean formulas free from identified endocrine-disrupting substances that may have a harmful effect on our endocrine system

🧪 To go further by conducting recognised tests on our finished products, in their packaging , to ensure that they do not activate endocrine mechanisms

♻️ To choose reduced-plastic, recycled and recyclable packaging .

SVR takes action

🔬 Since 2017, we have been testing our products on estrogenic, androgenic and thyroid endocrine mechanisms. These tests are carried out by an independent laboratory with specialist expertise in endocrine disruptors..

👍 We test SVR products aimed at our most vulnerable users and reformulate those that do not meet the test standards.

🥼 Science still needs to advance advance to help us understand more about endocrine disruptors. We are learning as much as we can while recognising the current limitations of our knowledge. But we are making progress . We want to provide you with clear and honest information while offering products that are as safe as possible for everyone .

💬 This committee is made up of endocrinologists, a toxicologist and regulatory experts . We discuss our concerns and our progress with them, and they advise us on what to do next, what new tests to investigate and what research to pursue.

The first steps to take to limit your exposure to endocrine disruptors


COSMETICS Choose cosmetics and skincare products that have been tested for endocrine disruptors and contain the minimum number of ingredients and no essential oils.	TEXTILES Choose natural fibres : cotton, linen, wool, silk – or second-hand clothing. Always wash clothes and household linen after purchase.	HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS Use environmentally-friendly products such as black soap (savon noir), white vinegar and baking soda. Use the minimum amount necessary.

UTENSILS Use utensils and objects made of stainless steel, glass or cast iron drink tap water if possible.	SANITARY PRODUCTS AND NAPPIES Use plastic-free fragrance-free products made from natural materials. Use washable wipes and change your child’s dirty nappies as soon as possible. .	FOOD Fruit and vegetables: choose organic and wash and peel them carefully . Ready meals in plastic containers: transfer to a non-plastic dish before heating.
